Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Is Peekaboo Playland safe for my child?
All our play structures were designed with safety as the highest priority. Unlike the ones found in outdoor playgrounds, none of our structures are made of steel or have areas where children could fall from any significant height. Having said that, we would like you to know that a playground cannot be built completely out of rubber. Wooden play structures, door frames, picnic tables, etc. can all be a source of minor ‘ouchies’, just like furniture in an ordinary household. That's why we would like to remind you that it is the caregivers' responsibility to keep an eye on their children at all times.

How about Peekaboo's cleanliness?
We clean and disinfect our toys, bounce house and ball pit frequently throughout the day. We intentionally opted for a smaller ball pit, which is easy to maintain unlike the gigantic ball pits often found at other indoor playgrounds, the bottoms and thousands of balls of which are in our opinion impossible to keep sufficiently clean.

What is the recommended age range for open play?
Infancy to 8 years.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express. Personal checks are only accepted as deposits for private party reservations, never for closing bills the day of the party.

Does the PVC of your bounce house contain lead?
An investigation by the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) has prompted lawsuits by CEH and the California Attorney General against leading makers, distributors and suppliers of bounce houses (also called jump houses or inflatable jumpers). CEH testing found one bounce house contained more than 70 times the federal limit for lead in children’s products under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Independent testing commissioned by CEH also showed that lead from bounce houses can expose children to the toxic chemical at levels that violate California law. That's why we did our research and spent extra time and funds to make sure our inflatable bounce house wasn't made from PVC imported from China, but from locally sourced materials.

Party Hosting Questions

What do I need to do to book a party?
To inquire about hosting a private party at Peekaboo, please submit a Party Inquiry.

What is your cancellation policy?
Parties can be cancelled for a full refund up to 6 weeks in advance. The remaining balance is due 4 weeks in advance.

Can I reschedule my party?
The date you choose when booking your party cannot be rescheduled if the party is less than 6 weeks away.

How early should I book my private event?
We advise you to book as far in advance as possible. You can book a party up to one year in advance. Especially during the hot summer or cold winter months, our weekend party schedule tends to get booked solid quickly. On occasion parties get canceled, so if you consider booking a party on a short notice, feel free contact us to find out if there are any last-minute availabilities.

Can I rent the facility for events other than birthday parties?
Yes, we are available for private events that include both adults and children, such as fundraisers, field trips, baby showers, baptisms, graduations, family reunions, etc.

What do you use for party supplies, such as table cloths, plates, etc.?
Peekaboo Playland is trying to do its part of reducing waste by supplying reusable decorative oil cloth and animal and flower-themed melamine plates instead of disposable paper and plastic plates and table coverings.

How many tables do you have for seating?
We have three 7' long tables, each with benches on both sides. One is normally used for food and beverages, while the other two are used primarily for the guests. There are also comfy couches and chairs spread throughout the playground.

What time can I get there to set up for my party?
Your party will be set up by the time you arrive. You are given 15 minutes to setup for your party. For example, if your party starts at 10 AM, you may arrive at 9:45 AM to bring in and set up food, beverages and supplemental decorations. You can always book an additional hour to have more setup time, or start the celebration in a more intimate setting with close family before all your other guests arrive.

What is the parking situation during parties?
There is usually plenty of metered street parking up and down Colorado Boulevard, as well as unlimited free parking on all side streets, such as our cross street Maywood Avenue. And remember that meters on the boulevard don't need to be fed on Sundays!

Are the birthday kid and parents included in the 20 kids/40 adults guest count?
Yes, the 20 kids include the birthday child and 19 friends and siblings, plus 2 parents and 38 adult friends & family.

What is the maximum number of guests I can invite?
Party packages include admission for 20 children (ages 9 months to 12 years) and 40 adults (13 years and over). If the amount of 20 children is exceeded, a fee of $12 per extra child and $6 per extra adult will be added to your final bill. PLEASE NOTE: 2-hour parties must not exceed a 30 children and 60 adult guest count.

May I bring outside food to my party?
Yes, you may bring any kind of food, with the exception of candy, chocolates, popcorn, chips and ice cream. If you have your party catered, please consider that we do not allow any chairs or tables of any kind.

Why no candy, chocolates, chips, ice cream or popcorn?
Chips, popcorn and sweets may pose a choking hazard for children at play, and tend to quickly turn the play structures and floors uncomfortably greasy and sticky.

Can I schedule a birthday party or private event on a weekday?
Yes, but private parties can only start at 4pm or later.

Can we have a piñata at my party?
Sorry, due to the risk of injury we do not allow piñatas at our parties.

Should I tip the party coordinators that hosted my event?
You may want to show your satisfaction with their service by kindly leaving a gratuity. Please know that tips are neither necessary nor expected, but definitely very much appreciated.

What if I have a concern or complaint?
If you are not completely happy during or after a visit or party, we would love to hear from you personally right away. We appreciate the chance to right all wrongs and want you to know that we value your input, as it helps our business improve. And we and are certain that most upsets turn out to be based on a simple oversight or misunderstanding, and can usually be easily resolved when promptly addressed.
